Barbara Ann Brown Czajkowski, 86, of Marblehead passed away peacefully with her family at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton on Friday, November 10, 2023. She was born June 26, 1937 in Marblehead, OH the daughter of Everett “Skip” and Esther (Huber) Brown.
The Brown and Huber families are woven into the pioneering tapestry of the Lake Erie area - as captains, fisherman and land owners.. Barb was most proud of the fact that her grandmother, Mary Jane Brown donated property in 1947 to build the beloved East Harbor State Park. Barb's grandfather developed the family marina, Channel Grove operated by her father then brother Bob Brown. Barb spent many afternoons with her sisters running the bait shop and making lunches for hungry fishermen. Winters as a child were spent on the white sand beaches of beautiful Fort Myers Beach, Florida where she met and married a Navy man, James Tester and had 4 children. As an adult, Barb worked at many places, she loved her stint at Carol Crane in Sandusky, where she got to model clothing for Miss America! Between Michigan and Ohio she held careers at Chatham’s, GM and several local banks. After living and raising her family in both Michigan and Ohio, she eventually retired to her hometown of Port Clinton where she had the opportunity to spend time with her children, sisters and brother.
We will miss the sassy, bright octogenarian who doted on her family, loved 50s music - her fave “The Platters,” collected with her sisters - cardinals which are perched everywhere in her house and her child-like delight over her menagerie of stuffed animated animals that sang funky tunes or talked back to you. Barb was a competitive rumikub and card playing strategist and enjoyed tipping a glass of wine or two as any fine lady would, she was especially fond of ...The Brandy Alexander!
Barb is survived by her devoted children: Mark (Karen) Testere of Lewiston, MI, James (Nelly) Tester of Novi, MI, Steven Tester of Grand Prairie, TX, Michelle (Ralph) Osborne of Avon Park, FL;
