B. Gale Fritz, 79, of Port Clinton, Ohio died Sunday, March 27, 2011 at his residence. He was born on March 12, 1932 in Toledo, Ohio, the son of the late I. Gale and Gertrude H. (Weigert) Fritz. He married Linda Brodbeck on November 27, 1970 and she survives. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served his country during the Korean War, earning himself two purple hearts. He worked as a dental tech for his dad, and also did building maintenance at General Telephone. He was a member of the Ohio Lakefront Group and the Oliver Hazard Perry Masonic Lodge. He was well read on many diverse subjects and watched old movies over and over, and was a "jack of all trades". He was also an avid gardener as he did a lot of organic planting with over 150 trees on the property he lived on for 36 years. He turned clay into rich earth and grew extra produce to share. Many people called it a park. Survivors include his wife: Linda; sons: Daniel G. Fritz, Port Clinton and William B. (Barbara) Charlton, Attica, OH; daughters: Elizabeth A. Jones, Fostoria, OH and Leslie M. Holm, Monroeville, OH; grandchildren: Justin, Jessica, Andrew, Jeremy, Renee, Robert, Jacob, Michael; great-grandson: Dominic, and one on the way, and his four legged son: Merlin Gale. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: David L. Fritz and sister: Evelyn Kerchevall. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, from 11am until funeral services at 3pm. Reverends William R. and Elizabeth A. Jack will officiate.
