Audrey Louise (Hallier) Dayton

Audrey Louise (Hallier) Dayton, 90, of Port Clinton, Ohio passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at Promedica Memorial Hospital, in Fremont, Ohio. She was born August 15, 1931 at Marblehead Hospital to the late Charles and Bertha (Oper) Hallier. She graduated from Lakeside High School in 1949 and attended Bowling Green State University to study teaching, graduating with honors in 1952. During her high school years, Audrey worked summers at Elmer Meter’s Fruit Market in Danbury where she met her surviving husband, Lloyd John Dayton. They were married on August 23, 1953 and had four children: Timothy, Thomas, Diane and Edward “Ted”. While raising her family she taught primarily 3rd grade at Danbury-Lakeside School for 30 years, retiring in 1996. She was a member of the Ohio and Ottawa County Retired Teachers Association. Audrey and Lloyd purchased a farm with peach, apple, pear and plum orchards in 1955 and they enjoyed running a fruit market together until 2003. Audrey and Lloyd were avid travelers, and over the years they toured all 50 United States and 56 countries. She was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and sang in the church choir for 60 years, serving as choir director from 1974-1988. Audrey really loved her church community and often taught Vacation Bible School and Sunday School programs. Audrey was a member of the Ohio Flying Farmers and International Flying Farmers Association. She was a director for the Ohio Flying Farmers for several years and served as the Ohio Queen from 1999-2000. Audrey is preceded in death by her parents, infant son John Charles Dayton, and brother Gerald Hallier. She is survived by her beloved husband, Lloyd Dayton and children Tim (Regina) Dayton, Tom (Judy) Dayton, Diane (Curtis) Alden and Ted (Lisa) Dayton, seven grandchildren and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, January 14, 2022 from 4-7pm at the Neidecker, Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, OH 43440. Funeral Services will begin at 11am Saturday, January 15, 2022 with a luncheon to follow at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 541 Church Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, OH 43440.
