Arthur M. Roll, 94, of Catawba Island and formerly of Cleveland and Euclid, died Thursday August 9, 2007 at Edgewood Manor Nursing Center in Port Clinton. He was the 4th child born to Albert and Anna (Schienke) Roll on September 3, 1912 in Cleveland. Art was a meat cutter all his life, with his own store for 12 years and then spending the next 41 years as a manager in stores in Cleveland and Euclid, retiring in 1975 and relocating to Catawba Island. He was a member of UFCW Local 880. He was very active in church work all his life and most recently with the Trinity Lutheran Church in Elmore. He had previously served as president, treasurer and usher of the church. In his spare time, he was an avid fisherman. Surviving are his wife Frieda (Trottner) whom he married on June 18, 1938; sons Kenneth (Betty) Roll of Oberlin and David (Susan) Roll of Mentor; grandchildren Laura (William) McGuinness, Kevin Roll and Robert (fiancé Devon Risher) Roll; great grandchildren Megan and Bridget McGuinness. Art was preceded in death by an infant daughter; his parents; sisters Frieda Gockel and Edith Tomko and brothers Oscar, Otto, Leonard and Harry. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Saturday at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton with the Rev. Stephen Lutz officiating. Interment will follow in Catawba Island Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
