Arthur J. Hoffman

Arthur J. Hoffman, 85 of Graytown, OH died Saturday, July 13, 2013 at his home. He was born July 17, 1927 in Sunny Slope, CA to the late George and Margaret (Ehrman) Hoffman. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II. On July 14, 1956 he married the former Sondra McCollister and she survives. Mr. Hoffman was an owner/operator truck driver for 30 years retiring from the teamsters in 1985. Following his retirement, he worked for 5 years at White Rock Quarry in Clay Center. Still wanting to work, he gained employment at the now Helena Company (the former W.W. Applicators) in Martin, OH. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Fremont, OH and a Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7510 in Clay Center, OH. He truly loved his family and playing in the Sugar Creek Golf Course Farmers League in Elmore, OH. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Sondra of Graytown; daughters: Lynn (David) Vasill of Graytown, OH, and Karen (Jay) Viery of Port Clinton, OH; brother Jerry Hoffman of Fremont, OH; sister Francis Northcutt of Tennessee; grandchildren: Kelli (Michael) Nelson, Brian Vasill, Evan and Alex Viery; and great- grandchildren: Grace, Faith, and Hope Nelson. He was preceded in death by brothers Ivan and Herbert Hoffman, and sisters Hazel Miller, and Betty Boonie. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-8pm at the Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor. Funeral Services will begin at 10am Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 206 N. Park Ave., Fremont, OH. Interment will be in Elliston Cemetery, where Military Honors will be presented. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
