Arthur E. Paulsen, 76, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2008 at Memorial Hospital, Fremont, Ohio. He was born in Oak Harbor on August 16, 1931, to Rollie E. & Luella C. (Rose) Paulsen. Art was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He retired in 1995 from the Ford Motor Company, where he worked in security for 38 years. A Marshall and Street Commissioner for the Village of Marblehead, Art also served on the Marblehead Fire Department. He was also the Salem Township Police Chief, a part time police officer for the Village of Oak Harbor, and a member of the Oak Harbor Fire Department. Art spent several years as a boy scout leader. He loved anything to do with trains, enjoyed fishing, and never missed watching his grandsons in their sporting events. Art's greatest joy was spending time with his family, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a wonderful, caring husband, father, and grandfather who gave so much for others, and touched the lives of many. On July 5, 1978, he married the former Mary Kramb, and she survives. Also surviving are his daughters, Linda (Gary) Cooper, Baytown, TX, Cheryl (Dan) Harder, and Kay (Jaime) Maguire, both of Oak Harbor; brothers, William (Eleanore) Paulsen, and Louie (Betty) Paulsen, both of Oak Harbor, sister, Judy (Sonny) Short, Sandusky, Ohio; grandchildren, Christina (Robert) Butcher, David (Heather) Workman, Brandon & Brock Harder, Kaleb & Jourdan Maguire; great-grandchildren, Thomas & Cooper Butcher, Isabella & Lexy Workman, and many nieces and nephews. Art was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Ronnie Paulsen. Family and friends are invited to call from 4-9 P.M. Thursday at Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, where funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday. Rev. David A. Voll will officiate, and interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor.
