Arlene R. Ravas

Arlene Ruth Ravas, 73, of Catawba Island, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008 at her home surrounded by her family. Arlene was married to her high school sweetheart, Robert Ravas on Valentine's Day of 1953. After 50 years of marriage he preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 2003. Mrs. Ravas was the loving mother of Mark (Lynne) Ravas of Hershey, PA, Allen (Terry) Ravas of St Charles, IL; Sue (Tim) Davey of Asheville, NC, Ruth (Doug) Endicott of Fishers, IN and Lee (Dale) Hayes of Delaware, OH. She was a wonderful grandmother to her 12 grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers: Ken (Marge) Apling of Oak Harbor, Jerry (Diane) Apling of Sandusky, Lynn (Linda) Apling of Toledo, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Ruth Apling, step-mother Gertrude Apling and sister Marilyn Bickley. Mrs. Ravas was an elementary school teacher at Catawba Elementary for 30 years. She was a charter member of Resurrection Lutheran Church where she served on church council. Her family and friends cherished her wisdom and she will be greatly missed Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday March 1, 2008 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, Catawba Island with Rev. Kurt Burows officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00 7:00 pm at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton, OH. Burial will be in Catawba Island Cemetery.
