Andrew M. Turinsky, Jr., 77, of Marblehead, Ohio died Sunday, January 1, 2012 at his residence. He was born on July 26, 1934 in Marblehead, the son of the late Andrew M. and Margaret (Harnad) Turinsky, Sr. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. He worked as a commercial fisherman in Marblehead pulling in nets of fish from Lake Erie, and also helped with the docks at Turinsky's Marina. He then went to work at the quarry in Marblehead, formerly Standard Slag, now known as Lafarge, until his retirement. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marblehead, and his hobbies included boating, fishing, and ice fishing. Survivors include his son: Tim Turinsky, of Loveland, Ohio; grandchildren: Cassandra Johns, Joshua Yoakum, William Turinsky; sister: Barbara Merrill, of Marblehead; brother: Coleman Turinsky of Marblehead; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter: Andrea (Turinsky) Johns; sisters: Zita (Bango) Rhea, Alberta Turinsky, Mary Sauvey; and brother: Francis Turinsky. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio. There will be no visitation at church on Thursday. Family prayers will begin at the funeral home at 10 am on Thursday, January 5, 2012 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 Barclay Street, Marblehead, with Father Daniel J. Ring officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Marblehead. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
