Andrew Helmeci, 85, of Elmore, OH died Friday, April 2, 2010 at St. Charles Mercy Hospital, Oregon, OH. He was born April 20, 1924 in Toledo, OH to the late Steve and Elizabeth Helmeci. He served in the United States Army during WW II in which he was a part of the Invasion of Normandy. On March 22, 1947 he married the former Elnora Sarnes and she survives. Andrew retired in 1986 from Martin-Marietta, Woodville, OH. He was a member of St. Paul Trinity United Methodist Church, Elmore and was a past member of the Elmore American Legion. Andrew enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, trains and his cat, Tiger. Survivors include his wife of 63 years Elnora of Elmore; sons: Thomas Helmeci of Woodville and Ronald Helmeci of New York City, NY; daughters: Ann Luttio of Minneapolis, MN and Barbara Helmeci of Hainesport, NJ; grandchildren: Angela (Steve) Cook, Jennifer (Steve) Burner, and James Helmeci; and 9 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-brother Joe Helmeci, brothers: Steve and Nick Helmeci, and sisters: Helen Soltis and Irene Helmeci. Services for Andrew will be held privately by the family. Memorial Contributions are being given to St. Paul Trinity United Methodist Church.
