Aloysius J. "Al" Ontko, 85, of Marblehead, Ohio, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on August 22, 1922 in Marblehead, the son of the late Frank and Anna (Adams) Ontko. Al was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, having served his country during WWII. On November 26, 1949, he married Genevieve Glovinsky, and she preceded him in death on February 11, 2008. He worked as a millwright at General Motors-New Departure in Sandusky until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead; member of the VFW Post #7572, Marblehead and also a member of the American Legion Post #83, Sandusky. Survivors include his sons: Dennis (Charlene) Ontko, and Roger Ontko, both of Marblehead; daughter: Carol (Larry) Bennice of Port Clinton; Six grandchildren and Three great-grandchildren; sisters: Marian "Monie" Griesser, of Marblehead; Eulalis Walliser, of Tiffin, OH; and Dolores Strickler, of Cleveland, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers: Clarence "Bill" Ontko, Francis "Bange" Ontko, and Daniel Ontko; sisters: "Nettie" Fish, Anna Dziak, "Mag" Ringholz, Josephine Stocks, and Paulene Chagnon. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Friday, March 28, at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Rd, Lakeside-Marblehead, where the VFW Post #7572, Marblehead will conduct services at 7:15 PM. Additional visitation will be held on Saturday, March 29 from 11:30AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead. Reverend Daniel J. Ring will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military rites given by the VFW Post #7572, Marblehead. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church; Providence Care Center, Sandusky or Donor's choice.
