Allen Joseph Povlick, 61, of Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 19, 2013. He was born on November 6, 1951 in Port Clinton, Ohio, the son of the late Joseph and Nelda (Gross) Povlick. Allen attended Danbury Schools and EHOVE, studying commercial art graduating in 1971. Allen was a professional newspaper carrier, along with his sister Anna, for the Sandusky Register and the Port Clinton News Herald. He always greeted his customers with a smile and wearing one of his many neckties. Allen was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Marblehead, where he also attended Sunday School. He was an avid reader and collected neckties and pens. He also shared a deep concern for the environment by collecting recyclables. His hobbies included arranging flowers, and he enjoyed his cat, April. Survivors include his sister: Anna, of Lakeside-Marblehead, one Aunt and eight cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Joseph, in infancy. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 from 5-8pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Peninsula Chapel, Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio. Additional visitation will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2013 from noon until funeral services at 2pm, at St. John Lutheran Church, 117 Stone Street, Marblehead, with Pastor Christina L. Young officiating. Burial will follow in Sackett Cemetery, Danbury Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Anna through St. John Lutheran Church, 117 Stone Street, Marblehead, Ohio. Allen was also a beloved member of the Lakeside community and Lakesiders are invited to make their donations through St. John Lutheran Church.
