Alice Rose Holly, (nee Pauls) was born on February 1, 1920 to William and Effie Pauls, and was one of six children. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Theron and Richard, and sisters, Marie, Mickey, and Elta Lou, and son, Andrew. Some of her best times were in Lacarne Elementary School during that happy time when several grades were combined in one room. She attended Port Clinton High School and married Andrew Holly shortly after graduation. They had five children: Andrew (deceased), Alice, Richard (Julie), Jude Mericle, and John (Jane) Holly. The grand result of those five kids gave them 18 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Art was always an important part of Alice's life, so much so that her mother had to designate one particular wall where she had to restrict her projects. At one point or another, she attempted just about every art medium possible and eventually had to build a separate room on her home for art stuff. Fortunately, her husband also had art talents, and the two of them spent many hours working on wood marquetry. Their "Stations of the Cross" are permanently displayed in St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Port Clinton, and many more of their religious pictures are on loan to Church of the Cross in Toledo. Alice was one of the seven women who formed the Port Clinton Artist's Club, which has grown to approximately 50 members. Her great abilities to listen to people, and to share talents will be greatly missed by family and friends. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton from 1pm until funeral services at 4pm with Reverend Mike Wiechers, officiating. Immediately following the service, everyone is invited to Peace Lutheran Church, 900 Jefferson Street, Port Clinton, to celebrate Alice's life and for a light luncheon. Donations may be made to the Ida Rupp Library, Port Clinton. Funeral Home: Neidecker-LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home - Port Clinton Chapel 1124 Fulton Street Port Clinton, OH US 43452
