Alice M. Miller

Alice M. Miller, 90, of Oak Harbor, OH, died Friday, January 26, 2007 at her residence. She was born December 29, 1916 in Benton Township, Ottawa County, a daughter of the late Frederick H. & Augusta Rose (Pfeiffer) Kohlman. She married Walter C. Miller on June 28, 1940 and he preceded her in death on July 4, 1988. Mrs. Miller worked at Standard Products for several years before she got married. After her marriage she worked on the family fruit farm with her husband and son. She was a member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor; Thrivent Financial; Town and Country Garden Club; the Country Culture Club, of which she served as president; the Ottawa County Farm Bureau; the Farmers Union; Riverview Senior Health Care Campus Auxiliary; and was a past member of the Ottawa County Fruit Growers Association and the Ohio Fruit Growers Association. She loved playing cards, gardening and taking trips with the Oak Harbor Group. She was a very active volunteer of many local organizations. Surviving is her son, Carl H. (Lynette) Miller of Toledo; grandchildren: Curtis Miller of Toledo, Clark Miller of Graytown, Linda (John) Leow-Johannsen of Oak Harbor, Lori Leow of Toledo, Stephen Leow of Toledo; great-grandson, Trent Johannsen; sisters, Dorothy (Jack) Watkins of Sylvania, OH, May Schimming of Oregon, OH; brother, Herman (Lois) Kohlman of Oak Harbor; and sisters-in-law, Freda Zibbel and Gertrude Kohlman both of Oak Harbor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; sisters, Sophia Zibbel, Clara Parman; and brothers: Henry, Emery, Woodrow and Elmer Kohlman. The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. to 9 P.M. Sunday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, with the Rev. Keith Hunsinger and the Rev. David Tinker officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial contributions may be made to the Endowment Trust Fund of St. Johns Ev.
