Alice M. Cander

Alice M. Cander, 88 of Providence Commons Assisted Living, Sandusky, OH and formerly of Marblehead and Euclid, OH died Monday, April 30, 2007 at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky. She was born February 14, 1919 in Marblehead, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Capko-Pepa) Pepon. She married Joseph Cander on Feb. 7, 1947 and he preceded her in death on October 5, 2006. Mrs. Cander worked for White Motor Company in Cleveland, retiring in 1978. She was a 1937 graduate of Danbury High School, a member of the Slovenian Women’s Club of Euclid, OH and a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Sandusky. Surviving are her brothers, Joseph (Mary) Pepon of Sandusky, OH, Michael (Beatrice) Pepon of Marblehead, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph; sisters, Marian Bird, Anna Myers and Elaine Kuznik. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. James Brown at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 3, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead, where the body will lie in state from 10:00 A.M. Thursday until the time of the Mass. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, Lakeside—Marblehead. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Marblehead Volunteer Fire Department.
