Alfred S. Herold, 90 of Lakeside, OH died Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. He was born July 8, 1933 in Bristol, CT to the late Alfred F. and Elizabeth S. (Stanley) Herold. He was a graduate of Cheshire Academy in Cheshire, CT and in 1955 received his undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University in Business Administration. He served in the United States Army, where he spent time in Germany during Peace Time. On June 9, 1956 he married the former Dorothy Creeger who preceded him in death April 29, 1996.
Alfred was an Executive Plant Manager for the Fisher Body Division of General Motors, having a 38 year career with GM, and retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead. He also held memberships with the Port Clinton Elks and the Catawba Island Yacht Club. He was an avid golfer and passionate fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He loved cars, Westerns, and was a famed GM storyteller. His greatest love was his family, and his kindness to all unmeasured. He will be lovingly remembered for his dancing ability and his “Cheshire” grin.
Survivors include his children: Al Herold of Dublin, OH, Chris (Lesa) Herold of Dublin, OH, Beth (John) Aman of Dublin, OH and Cindy (Michael) Kelleher of Columbus, OH; daughter-in-law Gidgett Herold(deceased son Dave) of Powell, OH; grandchildren: Tara (Jason) Griffiths, Cristen (Matthew) Beckett, Allison (John) Mensching, Grace Herold, Quinn Herold, Michael (fiancé Kayland) Aman, Chris Aman(Bridget), Anna Aman, Caitlin (Kevin) Kelleher, Callaghan Kelleher, and Molly Kelleher; great-grandchildren: Blake, Jaxon, Brooke, Wesley, Liberty, Elizabeth, Palmer, and Mailyn; brother Roger (Therese) Herold of Huron, OH; sister Janet (Dean) Barth of Huron, OH; special companion Evelyn Albrecht of Lakeside; sister-in-law Linda Creeger(deceased husband David); and brother-in-law Ed Souder(deceased wife Mary). Survivors also include many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Joseph Szybka and Father James Pfeiffer at 11am, Friday, March 8, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead, OH, where the family will receive friends beginning at 10am. A luncheon at the Church will follow. Burial will follow the luncheon at 4pm at Sand Ridge Cemetery, Bascom, OH with Military Honors.
