Alfonso M. Ortega

Alfonso M. Ortega, 84, of Catawba Island, OH passed away at his home Tuesday, May 14, 2024 with his family by his side. He was born October 30, 1939 in D’Hanis, TX the son of Felix and Maria de Refugia (Mendez) Ortega. He graduated from Hondo High School in 1958 in Hondo Texas and married Dolores Polanco on January 25, 1960. He worked at Standard Products in Port Clinton for 33 years and later worked at Tibbels Marina for several years. He enjoyed working with wood, building a beautiful playhouse for his granddaughters. He also enjoyed watching football and boxing. He was best known for his humor and the stories he would share with his family and friends.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years Dolores; daughter Debora (Dan) Ortega-Carr of Columbus, OH; son: Robert (Hedy) Ortega of Lakewood, OH; grandchildren: Rachel and Rebecca Carr; brothers: Ray Ortega of San Antonio, TX, Miguel Ortega of San Antonio, TX; sister: Teresa Carrales of Pharr, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Philiberto “Beto” Ortega, Jose Ortega; sisters: Pat Ortega, Eva Contreras, Ramona Muniz, Elisea Rivera, Refugia “Cuca” Hernandez, Raquel Reyes.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Monday, May 20, 2024 at Neidecker, Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1124 Fulton St. Port Clinton, OH 43452 with visitation prior to the service from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Christy Chapel Cemetery, Port Clinton, OH. Memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer’s Association.
