Alan M. Atwater, 31, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, passed away Saturday morning at his home. He was born in Oregon, Ohio, on June 7, 1979, the son of Frank & Beth (Bowman) Atwater. Alan was a graduate of Oak Harbor High School and was well known as a hard worker, beginning with his first paper route. His newspaper customers were important to him and he ended up with four routes. After school, he was employed at McDonalds in Oak Harbor, Catawba Island, and Fremont. He worked for several years at Northern Manufacturing in Oak Harbor, and was currently an employee of First Energy Corporation at the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, Oak Harbor. Alan farmed on the family farm and also operated a Hay and Straw business, selling and delivering to the Amish and relished in making a good deal. He enjoyed researching his family geneology and going to tractor pulls where he especially enjoyed antique tractors. Alan was a member of Union Local #245, Toledo, and Porkys Pool League. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dawn M. (Grant) Atwater; sons, Isaac Alexander Atwater and Brady Michael Atwater; daughter, Ashley Nicole Atwater, and grandparents, Frank and Raedel Bowman and Clarence and Lila Brackett; uncles Dan and Scottie Bowman, Michael Dirnberg, and aunt, Jerry DiMasso. Alan is survived by his daughter, Mandie Atwater; father, Frank Atwater, Oak Harbor; mother and stepfather, Beth and Roger Brackett, Oak Harbor; paternal grandparents, Neil and Joan Atwater, Oak Harbor; step-brother, David (Stosha) Brackett, Oak Harbor; aunts and uncles, Randy Bowman, Becky and Dale Lewis, Bob Brackett, Kevin and Debby Atwater, Denise Atwater, Kenny Cravens, David Dirnberg, Norma Blatt, Beverly Bebow, and Brenda Kessler, and his best friend, Duke. Friends may call from 2-9 P.M. Wednesday at Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oak Harbor, with the Pastor Keith A. Hunsinger, Pastor David J. Tinker, and Pastor David A. Voll officiating. Interment will be in Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Memorial contributions may be made to a trust fund for his daughter, Mandie, the Humane Society of Ottawa County, or Stein Hospice.
