Al Kennedy, 67, of Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at his residence. He was born on September 17, 1948 in Havre de Grace, Maryland, the son of the late Charles and Jean (Melvin) Kennedy. On November 13, 1971 he married Mary Christiansen and she survives. Al was a police officer for the Monroeville Police Department as well as the Danbury Police Department. He also worked at the former Standard Products in Port Clinton where he was also the Shop Committee Man for the UAW and at the Uniroyal Belt Plant. His passion in life was to help others, therefore he joined the Lakeside Fire Department and served as the Assistant Fire Chief. He also worked at the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office in Port Clinton as a dispatcher, retiring in 2000. Al was a devoted fireman who loved life and his family. He enjoyed joking with family and friends, loved his grandchildren and his dog, Andi. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed collecting racing memorabilia and coins. Survivors include his loving wife, Mary; daughter: Amy (Jerry) Dunn, Lakeside-Marblehead; son: Scott (Lisa) Kennedy, Mooresville, North Carolina; grandchildren: Cody, Holly and Chase Dunn; sisters: Jean Kitlowski, Churchville, Maryland and Ruth (Jerry) Overbay, Havre de Grace, Maryland; brother: Charles Kennedy, Havre de Grace, Maryland; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Alfred (Alfie) Kennedy II. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2016 from 2:00 PM 6:00 PM at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio. Additional visitation will be held on Monday, March 21, 2016 from 10:00 AM until funeral services at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Harry Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Sackett Cemetery, Danbury Twp. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Al Kennedy Memorial Fund established at the Marblehead Bank to assist with funeral arrangements.
