Rosemary Brown Schaus

Rosemary Brown Schaus, passed away on September 22, 2021 at The Garden of St. Francis, Oregon, Ohio. She was born in Bismarck, OH on November 12, 1923 and attended St. Sebastian School and St. Joseph School in Monroeville and Immaculate Conception in Bellevue and graduated from Bellevue High School in 1942. She was one of 10 children born to William and Amelia (Siesel) Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles R. “Bob” Schaus, and by her sisters Dolores Falkenberg, Gertrude Mercurio, Mildred Meyer, Dorothy Billmeyer, Margaret Brown and Catherine Duellman and by her brothers, Arthur Brown and William J. Brown. Surviving are one sister, Clara Mae Vincler of Seattle, WA and brother-in-law, Dean Brown, of Fayetteville, NC. She married Charles Robert Schaus in 1948 and their three daughters survive: Barbara (Bill) Healy, Kathleen Schaus (Buck Locke), Nancy (Steve) Turnow. Rosemary is also survived by her grandchildren, Bob (Angela) Healy, Megan Healy (Jason), Craig (Carmella) Turnow, Tiffany (Memo) Hernandez, Analisa (Scott Williams) Turnow and Morgan Turnow and great-grandchildren, Alena, Sofia, Gianna and Alex Hernandez, Camara and Crayton Turnow and Billy Healy. After moving to Springfield, PA in 1953, Rosemary and her family moved back to live on Eastmoreland Dr. South in Oregon. She was employed as a teacher’s aide by the Oregon Board of Education. After buying a summer cottage in Lakeside, OH, Rosemary and Bob moved there year-round and lived there for nearly 40 years. Rosemary attended St. Ignatius Church with Father Dan Ring and then St. Joseph Church in Marblehead with Fr. Ott, Fr. Ring and Fr. Brown. In Lakeside, Rosemary enjoyed working at Abigail’s Tea Room and Marilyn’s Gift Shop. Rosemary served as the Treasurer at the Lakeside Museum. Rosemary was also a member of “The Dock Potatoes”, a group of women who met daily on the Lakeside dock for many years. She loved going to The Patio for Donuts, and Sloopy’s Pizza, and went for coffee nearly daily at Ooh La La. She loved attending nearly all of the programs at Hoover Auditorium. Rosemary was blessed with the enduring help and support of many wonderful Lakeside friends, including Stephanie and Ron Leffler, Carol and Joe Morgan, and Brad and all of the staff at Sloopy’s. Special thanks to Michelle Farris and Ashley Weaver, who provided unfailing love, support and friendship. Rosemary’s life will be celebrated 10:00 am Tuesday, September 28, 2021 with a mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marblehead, masks and social distancing required, with interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Marblehead. The family requests donations to the Portage Resale Center, 301 W. 2nd St. Port Clinton, OH 43452, where Rosemary volunteered and enjoyed the love so freely given by Mary and all of the Portage Staff.
