Roger L. Brackett, 77, of Oak Harbor, OH, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021. He was born in Port Clinton, OH on May 12, 1944, a son of the late Clarence & Lila (Meyer) Brackett. Roger was a graduate of Oak Harbor High School and served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1965 to 1971. An employee of the former Denny’s Gulf, Witt Electric, Standard Products, and Whirlpool, he retired in 2009. Roger enjoyed woodworking and visiting with all the people who stopped by for his bi-yearly garage sales. A great lover of music, he could name the song, artist, and year of nearly any song he heard. Roger loved his dogs and one of his favorite times was his daily walk with his dog, Ginger. A proud grandfather, he loved to tell his grandchildren “grandpa jokes”. On May 19, 1992, Roger married the former Beth A. Bowman, and she survives. Also surviving is his son, David (Stosha) Brackett, Oregon, OH; grandchildren, Kala Brackett, Rylee Brackett, Erin Brackett, Alisha Brackett, Mandie Atwater, and Elizabeth (Dakota) Hausman; great-grandchildren, Kynsley, Owen, & Cooper Johnson; brother, Robert Brackett, Toledo, OH, sister, Norma Blatt, Oak Harbor, and close family friend, Robert Laurila. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, Frank & Raedel Bowman; step-son, Alan Atwater, daughter-in-law, Dawn Atwater, sisters, Beverly Bebow and Jerry DiMasso; and grandchildren, Ashley, Isaac, and Brady Atwater. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, August 26, 2021 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 122 W. Ottawa St., Oak Harbor, where friends may call after 11:00 AM Thursday. Pastor Becky Bolander will officiate, and interment will follow at Salem Township Union Cemetery, Oak Harbor.
