Richard E. Zimmer

Richard E. Zimmer, 80 of Marblehead, OH died Thursday, December 26, 2019 at the Willows of Willard in Willard, OH. He was born February 10, 1939 in Cleveland, OH to the late Edward and Elizabeth (Nemeth) Zimmer. He was a 1957 graduate of Maple Heights High School and received his Associates Degree in Computer Science through online programs. Richard was a computer analyst. He first did work for Jack & Heinz in Maple Heights, OH, then moved onto the accounting department for Clevite in Milan, OH before owning and operating his own computer analyst firm called Z Core where he worked for various banks and software companies, retiring in 1999. On April 6, 2002 he married Janet (Visniesky) and together they lived and made a home in Marblehead, OH where they enjoyed being on the water. Richard was a veteran of the United States Army. His memberships include the Milan Jaycees, Sandusky Ski Club, American Legion, Am Vets, and A Gold Eagle Member. He also served on the Board at Harbor Grove Yacht Club for many wonderful years. The last ten years of his life was spent traveling with Janet to places such as Coco Beach, the Florida Keys, St. Petersburg, Branson, Atlantic City, Williamsburg, the Catskills, the Poconos, Pidgeon Forge/ Gatlinburg, Biloxi- New Orleans, Myrtle Beach, Kennebunk, Maine, and many other places. Survivors include his wife Janet of Marblehead (and formerly of Mercer, PA); the mother of his daughter Barbara (Vodlia) Zimmer and his daughter Erica Zimmer both of Norwalk, OH; brothers Theadore (Barbara) Zimmer and James (Kathy) Zimmer; sister Nancy Lipstreu; nephews Ted and Doug; niece Kristen Tisza; great- nieces: Elizabeth, Alexandra, and Alexei; and great- nephews: Kyle and Kameron. Celebration of Life for Richard will be Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 12:30pm - 2pm at the American Legion Post #83, located on Route 4 in Sandusky, OH. Interment will eventually be in Millbank Cemetery, Fredonia, PA. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a contribution are asked to consider Stein Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
