Michael J. "Harley" Rice, 55, of Oak Harbor, Ohio, died Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, Ohio. He was born in Port Clinton on November 28, 1956, a son of Harold & Faye (Gulish) Rice. Mike was a 1975 graduate of Oak Harbor High School and also attended Penta County Joint Vocational School. He was the owner and operator of Alternative Fabrication on Benton Street in Oak Harbor, and greatly enjoyed welding and fabrication. Mike was the proud owner of a '69 Harley Davidson and a '69 Corvette, was a union member and a member of the NRA. On October 16, 1999, he married the former Debra L. LaCourse, and she survives. Also surviving is his mother, Faye Rice, Oak Harbor; brother, Jeffery J. Rice, Oak Harbor; step-sons, Adam Blank, Oak Harbor, and Andrew (Jennifer) Blank, Durham, North Carolina; step granddaughters, Abigail & Alexis Blank, and nieces, Lori, Alysa, Jessica, and Ajay Rice. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father. A Celebration of Mike's life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor. Casual attire would be appreciated, and following the service, family and friends are invited to a luncheon at Mike's shop on Benton Street.
