Marilyn Joyce Bloom Mohr, 88 of Toledo, OH and formerly of Oak Harbor, OH died Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Flower Hospital, Toledo after having a stroke on Christmas Day. She was born May 25, 1935 in Oak Harbor, OH to the late Raymond C. and Corene (Fisher) Bloom. She was a 1953 graduate of Harris-Elmore High School. On November 12, 2006 she married Rev. Daniel W. Mohr Jr. and he survives.
Marilyn served as Administrative Secretary at the Ottawa County Cooperative Extension Office from November 1953 to December 1991. She then served as Faith Lutheran Church Secretary for 13 years retiring in 2006 when she was married.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Fremont, OH where she served as Treasurer, Vice-President and President of the Church. Served seven years on the Northwest Ohio ELCA Synod Council. Served over 52 years as a 4-H Club advisor to the Stitch & Chatter 4-H Club. President of the Ottawa County 4-H Endowment Committee (which she was instrumental in getting organized). She served as Recording Secretary, Vice-President, and President in the Ohio Division Professional Secretaries Association (now IAAP). She also held membership in IAAP (International Association Administrative Professionals and helped to organize Chi Epsilon Sigma (National Extension Secretaries Fraternity). In 1991, she was named Lutheran Brotherhood Fraternalist of the Year as well as National Fraternalist of the Year representing 99 Fraternal organizations.
Survivors include her husband Rev. Daniel W. Mohr Jr of Toledo, OH; nephew David Bloom of San Antonio, TX; Niece Linda Jamerson of Izmir, Turkey; and great-nieces Dorianne Abbott of Portland, OR and Alyssa Bloom Newberger of Barton, VT. She was also preceded in death by her brother Vernon Bloom and his wife Jeanette; nephew Tom Bloom; and great-nephews Peter Jamerson and Evan Bloom.
Visitation will be Friday, January 19, 2024 at Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elmore-Genoa Chapel from 2-8pm with the family present 2-4 & 6-8pm. Funeral Services will begin at 11am on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Faith Lutheran Church, Fremont with Rev. Tim Miller officiating. Burial will be in Faith Lutheran Cemetery.
