Linda A. Fontana

Linda A. Fontana, 67, of Marblehead, Ohio passed away at home with her family by her side on Friday, April 17, 2015. She was born on August 14, 1947 in Monroe, Michigan, the daughter of the late Harold and Julia (Sedlak) Stark. On June 22, 1968, she married John Fontana and he survives. Linda was a Licensed Practical Nurse, working for Memorial Hospital and Dr. Buder in Sandusky. In 1986 she and Shirley Pitzer, opened up the "Marblehead Galley" Restaurant where they continued to own and operate it until 1989. She then went back to work as a LPN at Edgewood Manor Nursing Center in Port Clinton. Then in 1994 she and her son bought back the "Marblehead Galley" Restaurant and operated it until 2004 when it was sold. She continued to work there until her recent illness. She was born and raised Catholic and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marblehead. In recent years she became a member of the Chapel on the Lake in Danbury Twp where she enjoyed bible study. She was also a member of the Danbury CCL for 20+ years. Her hobbies included scrap booking, shopping, traveling, baking, and playing bridge with her friends. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She had a warm and welcoming spirit, and her house was open to all family and friends. Survivors include her husband, John; son: Mike (Brenda) Fontana, Penn Valley, California; daughter: Nikki (Mat) James, Marblehead; grandchildren: Karly, Amanda, Abby, Sydney, Noah; great-grandchildren: Nahla, Grace, Giovanni, and two on the way: Zlatan and Jayce; brother: John (Brenda) Stark, Lynchburg, Virginia; sisters: Sandy (Paul) Benson, Lancaster, Ohio; Peggy (Woody) Mangus, Lynchburg, Virginia; and Patty (Mike) Baier, Montgomery, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio. On Monday, April 20, 2015 additional visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:30 am until funeral services at 11:30am with Pastor Brad Hall officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery, Marblehead. Memorial contributions may be made to Chapel on the Lake Church, Stein Hospice, or to the American Cancer Society.
