Joseph John Maurer

Joseph John Maurer, 81, of Marblehead, OH, and formerly of Ontario, OH, passed away December 11, 2023, at Riverview Healthcare Campus. He was born November 19, 1942, in Mansfield, OH, the son of John J. and Julia (Stehle) Maurer. He married Mary Colleen Corbin on April 20, 1968. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Cold War. Joe worked for General Motors for 36 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marblehead, the Marblehead VFW Post 7572, and the YAGR Association. He loved his family, boating, traveling, woodworking, and helping others.

Surviving are his wife, Colleen; sons Matthew (Julia) Maurer of Mercersburg, PA, and Andrew (Leah) Maurer of Lake Orion, MI; grandchildren Emma, William, Maya, Nathalie, Michael, Nathan, Rachel, and Mary Maurer; and sister-in-law, Cindy Main. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Phyllis. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Joseph Szybka at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 Barclay St., Marblehead. The mass will be preceded by visitation at the church at 9:00 am. Interment will follow the Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery, Marblehead. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (www.lbda.org) or Stein Hospice (https://www.steinhospice.org/).
