Joan Harris, 82 of Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio passed away Thursday, December 31, 2020 at her residence at Otterbein North Shore Assisted Living in Marblehead, Ohio. She was born June 17, 1938 in Fremont, Ohio to the late Joseph F. and Evadna (Riedmaier) Kott. She was a 1956 graduate of Danbury High School. She married Maurice “Mo” Royce on May 24, 1958 who preceded her in death on July 6,1973. Joan worked at US Gypsum for ten years and Gateway Restaurant for twenty years. She will be most remembered as the “Corn Lady” where she operated her farm stand in the summer months along with owning/operating Kott’s Camp on the Lake. She loved greeting her customers with her infectious smile and laugh and spent her weekends with her camp family. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Danbury Township where she was active in the Women’s Bible Study and was a WELCA member. She was also an active member and past officer of the Danbury Senior Center along with the Marblehead Lighthouse Historical Society. Joan loved to knit scarves, hats and blankets to give to those in need. She enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels play in her yard while keeping track of the tourists driving by her home on East Harbor Road. Survivors include her sons: Scott (Lisa) Harris, Mark (Paige) Harris of Marblehead, Ohio and Tod Harris of Cleveland, Ohio; grandchildren: Autumn, Dylan, Dalton, Madelyn, Daniel, Tyler, Aubrey, and Addison and great-grandchildren: Serenity and Javier. She was preceded in death by her sister Bonnie Lou Kott. Friends may call Sunday, January 17, 2020 from 1:00-4:00 at the Neidecker, Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio 43440. A Service of Remembrance will begin at 4:00 following visitation at the Funeral Home.
