Joan A. Gerber

Joan A. Gerber (nee Marsho), a longtime resident of Cleveland, Ohio, and Catawba Township in Northwest Ohio, was called home to the Lord Saturday, December 31, 2022. Joan was born January 21, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Stephen and Frances Marsho (nee Misic). She graduated from Collinwood High School, where she met and later married the love of her life, Jerry Gerber. Married for 62 years, Jerry and Joan have four children: Mike (Ellen) of Whitehouse, Ohio; Jim (Linda) of Catawba Township, Ohio; Barb of Cleveland, Ohio; and Tom of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Grandma G.G., as Joan was affectionately known, is survived by her six cherished grandchildren: Andrew (Angelina) of Valdez, Alaska; Christian (Hope) of Columbus, Indiana; Reed (Sophia) of Cincinnati, Ohio; Kimberly (Chris) of Boston, Massachusetts; Ben of Whitehouse, Ohio; and Ethan of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Joan also had two cherished siblings – Dan Marsho (Lois) of Gloucester, Virginia, and Tom Marsho (Norma), who preceded her in death.

Joan’s zest for life was unmatched. After beginning her family, Joan earned a bachelor’s degree from Notre Dame College of Ohio and went on to have a lengthy career as a Medical Technologist at University Hospitals of Cleveland. In her leisure time, Joan enjoyed traveling, reading, playing cards, boating and fishing on Lake Erie, and many other adventures. She had strong faith in God, genuine compassion for others, loved unconditionally and lived life to the fullest.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marblehead, Ohio. The family will receive friends one hour prior to mass at the church. Internment at Catawba Island Cemetery will immediately follow the mass.
