Gordon R. Dixon, 89, of Port Clinton, OH died Monday, June 19, 2006 at Riverview Health Care Campus, Oak Harbor, OH. He was born on May 12, 1917 in Port Clinton, a son of the late Noah and Cora (Wilson) Dixon. He married Mae Mann on July 13, 1941, and she survives. Mr. Dixon retired from Bing Furniture in Sandusky where he worked for 37 years, retiring as manager. During World War II, he worked at Erie Army Depot as an inspector. He was a member of the Men’s Prayer Breakfast and previously the Christian Businessmen. He loved living on the water and enjoyed gardening and listening to music. He was a devoted Christian, husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending his vacation with his family and especially his grandchildren. For 45 years he and his wife sponsored many orphan children. He was well known for his wonderful sense of humor. Surviving is his wife, Mae; daughter, Dr. Janis (Edwin) Dixon McCausland of New Albany, OH; grandchildren, Douglas (Julie) McCausland of Westerville, OH, Susan (Matthew) McCausland Halteman of Grand Rapids, MI; brother, Ralph Dixon of Troy, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Delos “Dick” Dixon; and sisters, Arzella McMunn, Ruth Ahrens, and Mildred Starnes. The family will receive friends from 5-8 P.M. Wednesday at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Port Clinton, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 22, 2006. The Rev. Paul Miller will officiate, and interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton. Memorial contributions may be made to World Vision, P.O.
