Edward R. Jordan, 76, of Oak Harbor, OH died Friday, May 3, 2024 at Elmwood Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing in Fremont, OH. He was born June 2, 1947 in Oberlin, OH to the late Robert E. and Catherine (Luikart) Jordan. He was a 1965 graduate of Elyria High School and received his Bachelors and Master’s Degrees in Education from Bowling Green State University. Ed retired in 2009 after 39 years of teaching at Benton-Carroll-Salem School District (BCS) where he also coached both Football and Track until 2018. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor. On July 14, 2012 he married the former Diane (Rios) Borjas, and she survives.
Edward was a dedicated servant to the community of Oak Harbor, BCS Schools, and BCS athletics. He coached and taught nearly four generations of Oak Harbor residents and families. Often seen all hours of the night and day on school grounds dedicating his time to the service of others. He was inducted into the Oak Harbor Athletic Hall of Fame in 2023 and was given the Ohio High School Athletic Association Exemplary Contribution and Service Award twice.
Edward was a diehard Cleveland Browns fan and supported all Cleveland sports teams his entire life. He also had a passion for racing and owned a sprint car from 1991-1994, racing at Fremont and Attica speedways with his son as the driver. He was able share his passion for sports and auto racing with his wife Diana. Ohio State Buckeyes Athletics were both their favorite team to cheer for.
Survivors include his wife Diana; son Dr. Cary Jordan daughter in law Dr. Laura Jordan; step-sons/daughters in law: Bob & Melissa Borjas, Curtis & Lindsey Borjas, and Thomas & Jenny Borjas-Hobbs; grandchildren; Robert “Bobby” Jordan, Christopher, Eliana, Juliana, Marcus, Michael, Alanna, Jayden Borjas, Briana, Jacob, Jojo Hobbs; Great Grandchildren Luna Beam and Freya Hobbs, and sister Kathy Burrer. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Heather M. Jordan in 1989 age 17 years.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-7:30pm and Remembrance Service 7:30-8:30pm at Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Oak Harbor Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11am on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Oak Harbor with Rev. Joseph Steinbauer Celebrant. Burial will be handled privately by the family. Memorial Contributions may be made to Oak Harbor Athletic Boosters.
