December 26, 1960 — February 9, 2010

Dr. John T. Waite, 49, of Catawba Island, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, February 09, 2010, at Stein Hospice, Sandusky, Ohio. He lived a rich and full and varied life, and leaves a legacy of love and laughter through his family, his wide circle of friends, his clients, and through the artistry of his healing and musical and personal gifts. John was born on December 26, 1960, in Franklin, Indiana, to Louis and Frances (Jackson) Waite. A talented trombonist, John toured with The Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps and attended Indiana State University on a music scholarship. After a back injury cut short his promising musical career, John turned his talents and passion to the chiropractic care that had helped him. He enrolled in the Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, and received his Doctorate of Chiropractic in 1988. Throughout his life he continued his studies in chiropractic, applied kinesiology, acupressure, homeopathy, nutrition, and other healing arts, and was a frequent lecturer on a variety of health topics. After graduation, John began his chiropractic career in Canton, Ohio. It was in Canton he met and married Lori Gasper. John and Lori moved to Port Clinton in 1992, where they established Alternative Chiropractic Health Care on East Harbor Road. For 18 years, John's clients and the communities of Port Clinton, Maumee, and Sandusky were blessed by his healing knowledge, compassion, dedication, talents and his warm smile. John's friends and interests were eclectic and numerous. He enjoyed golf, sailing, boating and fishing, played trombone with The Terra Jazz Thunder and Brass Choir, was a past president of Port Clinton Rotary, past Fleet Captain of Sail of the Port Clinton Yacht Club, and was recently honored with the PCYC Oliver True Memorial Trophy for Outstanding Service. John's most prized legacies are his bright, kind, talented and beautiful daughtersAshley, 16; Amber, 14; and Abigail, 11. John is survived by his wife and daughters, parents Louis, Sr., and Frances of St. Louis; grandmother Esther Jackson of Norwalk, Ohio; brothers Louis Waite, Jr., St. Louis, and Duane (Julie) Waite of Catawba; sister Vonnie (Patrick Georgen) Waite of St. Louis; nieces Courtney Waite, Sidney Waite and Missy (Joe) Yedlicka; and nephew Cory Waite.
