Donald F. Baer

Donald F. Baer, 78, of Oak Harbor, OH, died Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at the Ohio Veterans’ Home, Sandusky, OH. He was born in Toledo, OH on July 30, 1927, a son of the late Donald & Lucille (Norden) Baer. Mr. Baer was an employee of Libbey-Owens-Ford, East Toledo Plant, for many years, retiring in 1982. He was an active member of the Alliance Chapel, Oak Harbor, where assisted in the youth program. Mr. Baer also enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and bowling, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He married the former Shirley Miller on February 15, 1952, and she survives. Also surviving are his daughters, Karen (Dan) Fillmore, Oak Harbor, Cathy Ashley, Oak Harbor; Cheryl (John) Ambrose, Bucyrus, OH, and Kaye (John) Avery, Oak Harbor; brother, Rodney (JoAnn) Baer, Woodville, OH; sister, Kathryn Justice, Toledo, OH; 10 grandchildren, and 8 great granddaughters. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joanna Arndt. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the Crosser Funeral Home, Oak Harbor, where the family will receive friends after 11:00 A.M. Saturday. Rev. Clint Hayslett will officiate, and interment will be in Limestone Cemetery, Limestone, OH.
